We stood in front of the first area for 40 minutes on a cold, rainy day. I appreciate that there was a lot of important history given but I’ve never been on a walking tour where we weren’t actually walking. I wasn’t feeling well having just landed a few hours earlier so that factored into my decision to leave early but the guide indicated to Guruwalk that I didn’t take the tour despite me being there for quite some time and tipping as well. When I take a walking tour I expect some walking to be involved.

Taisa was extremely knowledgeable and personable. She shared some of her personal experiences from growing up in Warsaw, which made the tour even more interesting.

Our guide Magda's interest in jews in Warsaw, past and present, stems from her family history. Over years she has developed deep knowledge of her subject. Magda remarkably was able to bring history to life while explaining to us monuments, mostly small, erected after the end of WW2. I would have liked more opportunities to sit down along the route, but the 2.45 hour tour was fascinating throughout.

The tour felt different from most I’ve been on because it mixed history with personal stories and also pointed out things in Warsaw I probably wouldn’t have noticed on my own.
